List of COVID-19 related behaviours of general public:

  • Evidence on handwashing/face touching/proper use of masks, gloves and hand sanitizers/proper way of coughing/new ways of greeting/proper use of tissue
  • Properly disinfect mobile device screen
  • Decent and frequent cleaning of surfaces people has touched or may touch frequently like: buttons, light switches, door handles
  • Isolation
  • Willingness to use social distancing mobile apps (sense of privacy)
  • Public-spirited behaviour
  • Undesirable behaviours, e.g. panic buying of key supplies and xenophobic responses
  • Evidence links crisis communication
  • Risk perception (which are often biased)
  • Other biases including but not limited to: status quo bias, political bias, confirmation bias, availability heuristic, framing effect, bandwagon effect, hostile attribution bias, neglect of probability, normalcy bias
  • Undesirable behaviors from some younger people in false sense of security
  • The evidence of exercising, the physical activities that calm mentally and the good nutrition to boost the immune system which is needed.
  • The evidence of monitoring some people’s behaviours inside and outside the house especially kids as they are less aware with this virus.
  • Behaviour of health workers:
    • -Isolation in fear of spreading to others
    • -Inadequate compliance for the preventive measures protocol during early stage of the outbreak: not separating patients of possible COVID-19 and other disease in waiting room, using the same stationary for all patients in waiting room
    • -High amount of distress/anxiety and fatigue
    • -Evidence of opening doors and windows to change the air especially in the crowded places of the hospital, like the reception or the waiting room.
